Mark Esposito is a globally recognized scholar, educator, and practitioner at the forefront of technology, economics, and public policy. He specializes in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence, with expertise spanning academia, international organizations, and the private sector.
Dr. Esposito is Professor of Technology Policy at Northeastern University, where he equally serves as Faculty Fellow at the Center for Emerging Markets, and Affiliate Scientist at the Global Resilience Institute. He has worked for 15 years in the faculty of Harvard University, where he maintains a faculty associate role with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School, the Center for International Development at Harvard Kennedy School and the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Policy at Georgetown University and a Senior Associate at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Esposito is closely connected to policy and innovation initiatives worldwide. He serves as Chief Economist of micro1, a Silicon Valley AI lab, and is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Peace and Diplomacy. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global AI Alliance and Fostering Converging Technologies group, and has been a Professorial Fellow at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai since 2017. He has advised government agencies across the Gulf Cooperation Council and Eurasia and, for over a decade, co-led the Institutes Council on Microeconomics of Competitiveness at Harvard Business School under Professor Michael Porter.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Dr. Esposito co-founded Nexus FrontierTech, an influential machine learning research firm, and the AI Native Foundation. He was one of the Inaugural Research Fellows at the Circular Economy Research Center at Cambridge.
Recognized by Thinkers50 Radar in 2016 as one of the world’s top 30 business thinkers, Dr. Esposito is a widely published author with over 150 peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications and 14 books. This course addresses the challenges facing executives of modern business who need to deal with increasing community expectations for economic, societal and environmental sustainability of their organizations. Contemporary, economics-based models of firms and markets are used to analyze a wide range of strategic real-world scenarios. Students will learn how to identify and choose a superior competitive position, gain and sustain competitive advantage, and how to create an organizational context to make the chosen strategy work. They will also be exposed to analytic tools that help them in making strategic decisions. The single biggest concern of senior executives in global surveys year after year is that their business models are not innovative and therefore, noncompetitive. A related concern is that, absent an innovative model, their company can easily be disrupted. Academic studies have conclusively demonstrated that the highest return on innovation
investment is in the creation of innovative business models.

Food Innovation and RegenerationThis course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the transformative power and ethical considerations of AI in modern business practices. Participants will explore the evolution of AI, delve into current trends and technologies, and understand the implications for future business models. With a focus on both theoretical knowledge and practical application, this program covers the ethical dimensions of AI, the regulatory landscape, and strategies for integrating AI responsibly into business operations.
Data Management and Business AnalyticsThe purpose of this module is to increase awareness of the role and functioning of modern corporations as sustainability challenges, opportunities, and solutions emerge. My objective is to enhance our collective awareness of the multiplicity of issues associated with sustainability and explore what all of this means for firms. Towards this end, I have outlined three facets of sustainability – adapting to new demands, dealing with multiple stakeholders and creating a temporal horizon– that can serve as the basis for deepening your understanding of issues connected with sustainability.
