Giorgio Pedrazzi is currently working as Data Scientist at Cineca in the HPC High Performance Computing department. At BBS he coordinates the Big Data Laboratory module in the Master in Data Science and Business Analytics. His main areas of interest are data analysis, machine learning and deep learning. Within the HPC department he collaborates in several European projects such as AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Analysis) for the analysis of helium physical data and EUHUBS4DATA for the creation of a federation of Data Innovation HUBs in order to provide services to small and medium enterprises, start-ups and web entrepeneurs. In 1995 he obtained his PhD in Statistical Methodology for Scientific Research at the Faculty of Statistical Sciences of the University of Bologna.
Laboratory activities involve the use of a wide range of tools for Data Science and Machine Learning applications, demonstrated on both local PCs and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. In particular, the course delves into the Python programming language and its most widely used libraries, such as Pandas, Torch, and tools for parallel computing.
The course also covers the fundamentals of Deep Learning and its primary applications, including models for computer vision and Natural Language Processing (NLP). The acquired skills are further consolidated through a hands-on project, carried out in teams as part of a hackathon.
The course is coordinated by Giorgio Pedrazzi and will be hold by CINECA staff, the largest Italian computing centre (Dipartimento Super Calcolo, Applicazioni e Innovazione and Laboratorio Big Data e Analytics).
