Professor of Management, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Marketing, Marcello Mariani is the Scientific and Academic Director of the Research Center “Digital Innovation Management Pioneering Artificial intelligence and Change Technology” (DIMPACT- https://centri.unibo.it/digital-management/en ) at the University of Bologna.
Prof. Mariani has extensive teaching experience at all levels (bachelor, master, PhD, MBA and Executive). He has been teaching and visiting scholar at many international universities, including the New York University (New York, USA), the University of Reading (UK), and the University of Technology Sydney (Sydney, Australia). He has directed and contributed to the development of several Master programs and executive programs in areas such as strategic management, business strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation management, information management and marketing.
He has authored more than 200 publications, including about 120 journal articles, 6 books, 20 book chapters, and more than 100 conference papers. His scientific work has received more than 23,000 citations and several of his studies have received coverage by the Financial Times. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Long Range Planning, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of Business Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Production Planning & Control, International Journal of Production Research, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Advertising, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, and more.
Since 2022 he has been ranked every year among the Top 1% scientists worldwide based on the Stanford-Elsevier bibliometric studies and since then he has been the most prolific and cited scholar of the University of Bologna in the subject area “Business & Management”. In 2024 he was awarded the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher Award 2024.
He has been awarded a number of prizes from academic bodies, learned societies, and research centers such as the Academy of Management (USA), the Department of Education, Science and Training Australian Government (Australia), the European Cultural Foundation (Netherlands), the European Academy of Management (Brussels).
