Lorenzo  Scrimizzi

Lorenzo Scrimizzi is the President of the Japanese subsidiary of Carpigiani, a world leader in manufacturing professional equipment for gelato, ice cream, and frozen desserts.
During his tenure, he successfully led the transition from a joint venture to a fully owned subsidiary. He has also been instrumental in promoting artisan gelato culture in Japan, notably through the establishment of the local branch of Gelato University and the organization of public promotional events.

With a degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Bologna, he has a diverse professional background across industries such as precision mechanics, accessories, and organic food trading and promotion in Japan.
Since moving to Tokyo in 1995, he has regularly traveled to Italy and South Korea, maintaining strong international business connections. In 2018, he began collaborating with BBS, annually leading a session on Japanese business culture, drawing from his own firsthand experience.

A passionate gastronome, he is also an active member of the Tokyo delegation of the Academy of Italian Cuisine

COURSES

This course will examine the strategies adopted by firms in light of both competitive and regulatory contexts, with particular attention to selected emerging markets and their specific characteristics. The cases of Japan, Southeast Europe, Latin America, various Middle Eastern countries, and the Mediterranean area will be explored in depth, highlighting growth opportunities, entry barriers, partnership and business models, as well as the cultural, regulatory, and organizational adaptations that companies must undertake to compete effectively in these environments.
