Fabio Scacciavillani
Economist and Ph.D. University of Chicago

Fabio Scacciavillani is an economist with a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, where he taught at the College and was assistant to Nobel Prize winner Merton Miller. He teaches the course on Internationalization of Companies at BBS and is the CFO of Solmate Infrastructure, a Nasdaq-listed company that deals with Digital Asset Treasury with a capitalization of over half a billion dollars. He is also a founding partner and strategist at Nextperience, a financial consulting boutique, and IntellAIgenz, an artificial intelligence startup.

From 2011 to 2019, he was Chief Strategist of the Oman Investment Fund, the Sultanate’s sovereign wealth fund, and previously held positions at the Dubai International Financial Centre, Goldman Sachs, the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and Confindustria.

His research has resulted in articles on macroeconomics, exchange rates, finance, and geopolitics. His book “The New Economics of Sovereign Wealth Funds,” co-authored with Massimiliano Castelli, is a seminal study on the global influence of sovereign wealth funds. More recently, he published “Il Furto del Millennio” (The Theft of the Millennium) on intellectual property theft and China’s hybrid war against the West.

Together with Alberto Forchielli, he runs the YouTube channel Inglorious Globastards, has created the Clay Economy series for financial education, broadcast by Rai, and writes for various media including Il Sole 24 Ore, Investire, La Ragione, and Lettera43.

COURSES

Lo sviluppo dei mercati internazionali da parte delle imprese richiede una solida conoscenza delle pratiche di commercio internazionale e delle principali regolamentazioni che ne disciplinano le dinamiche nei vari Paesi. In questo insegnamento verranno analizzate le strategie adottate dalle imprese alla luce del contesto competitivo e normativo, con particolare attenzione ad alcuni mercati emergenti e alle loro specificità. Saranno approfonditi i casi del Giappone, del Sud Est Europa, dell’America Latina, di vari Paesi del Medio Oriente e dell’area Mediterranea, mettendo in evidenza le opportunità di crescita, le barriere all’ingresso, i modelli di partnership e di business e le forme di adattamento culturale, normativo e organizzativo che le imprese devono adottare per competere efficacemente in questi scenari.
