Dr. Amanda Ahl is an Advisor at Acanthus Climate Ventures, supporting startups and investors in the climate tech landscape. Previously, Dr. Ahl served as Associate Analyst on the Grids & Utilities team at BloombergNEF, leading the team’s global coverage of power utility digitalization and innovation strategies. She has international experience in energy research and business, such as at the Oak Ridge National Lab in the US and Shizen Energy in Japan. Dr. Ahl has a PhD in Technology Management from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and a masters in Industrial Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).
At the Bologna Business School, Dr. Ahl serves as a Visiting Professor, teaching BBS’ MBA course “Innovation & Sustainability”.
The purpose of this course is to explore multiple perspectives of innovation for sustainable development, including its opportunities and challenges. At the end of the course, students will have improved skills in discussing, analyzing and thinking critically about innovation for sustainability across multiple sectors. This is important for companies that want to rewire their technologies and business models to reach both short- and long-term sustainability goals.
