A week in Ireland to design the sustainability transition

24 October 2025

From October 8 to 10, 2025, participants of the Master in Sustainability Transition Management at Bologna Business School took part in a study experience at University of Galway, a strategic academic partner of the School.

An opportunity to explore advanced sustainability models and delve into the practical application of ecological transition strategies across key sectors.

The program included company visits, workshops, discussions with international experts and immersive field sessions. Among the highlights were visits to Boston Scientific, a global leader in the MedTech sector, and to Galway Wind Park, one of the largest wind farms in Ireland. Students also took part in seminars on ESG regulation and reporting, led by professionals such as Ciara Greaney from Whitespire, and joined a roundtable on renewable energy with Professor Rory Monaghan.

The experience concluded with a session on sustainable leadership hosted at the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, along with visits to key organizations such as the Marine Institute and Ahascragh Distillery, a virtuous example of circular transition in the agri-food sector.

This experience represents a key element of the educational journey at BBS: a concrete opportunity for hands-on learning that enriches the preparation of future sustainability leaders, ready to operate in complex, interconnected and international contexts.
