I\u00a0began my career in the private sector, working with government affairs\u00a0for <strong>3M<\/strong>. Seeking a more direct impact in public policy, I\u00a0pivoted my career to\u00a0public interest law.\u00a0I worked as a legal advisor for municipal governments, advising elected and appointed city authorities in a variety of subjects.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In 2014, I decided\u00a0to\u00a0build upon my\u00a0passion for private-public\u00a0relationship\u00a0by deepening my knowledge in\u00a0<strong>Environmental Law<\/strong>, a subject that has always inspired me and that is still incipient in my home country.\u00a0As\u00a0a first step in\u00a0this\u00a0academic and professional aspiration, I\u00a0pursued a Master\u2019s Degree at the <strong>University of Coimbra<\/strong>, in Portugal. \u00a0My\u00a0master thesis, now published as a book, explores how the <em>concept of Precaution<\/em> can inform regulatory policies surrounding new sources of\u00a0energy. Ultimately,\u00a0my experience in academia\u00a0convinced me that, to\u00a0lead\u00a0a productive dialogue on environmental concerns, I had to be able to\u00a0<strong>understand and influence\u00a0business<\/strong>. That is how I found BBS and the Global MBA in Green Energy and Sustainable Businesses.<\/p>\n<p>At BBS, I\u00a0learned how to <strong>combine best practices<\/strong> in environmental management with <strong>practical\u00a0business skills<\/strong>. I also developed <strong>management\u00a0skills<\/strong> that\u00a0will help me put my legal vision into practice.\u00a0After the MBA,\u00a0my goal is\u00a0to use my experience in academia, government and business\u00a0to create guidelines for\u00a0sustainable development. I believe that my time in Bologna was a crucial step in this journey.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to choose one experience from this year, I would highlight the <strong><a href=\"\/hp\/?p=49899\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Graduation and Reunion<\/a><\/strong> event of July 2018. I had the opportunity to participate in seminars and celebrations with BBS alumni and the whole Community. Not only did this create space for <strong>networking<\/strong>, but it was a moment to engage in decisions that will impact the future of BBS. For example, I was glad to participate in a <strong>roundtable discussion with the Dean Max Bergami<\/strong> that gave us the opportunity to share our ideas for the future of the school, including the new buildings that will enlarge the campus.
