Oscar F<\/span><\/strong>arinetti<\/b>, Founder of Eataly<\/a>, was a guest speaker at the Master Lecture series to inspire our students from the Global MBA in Food and Wine<\/a>. Which are the key skills a manager in the food and wine sector must have?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Italian food is excellent and unique. You have to think global<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and act local<\/span><\/em>\u201d<\/em>. – Oscar Farinetti.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through an extraordinary journey, starting in Turin, <\/span>Eataly<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0has opened 19 stores in Italy alone, in addition to those present on an international<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>scale in countries like\u00a0Turkey<\/span>,\u00a0United Arab Emirates<\/span>,\u00a0Germany and the United States<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n


Oscar Farinetti explained that the idea was born from the intuition about the fact that \u201c<\/span>the country<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with the most appreciated food and wine in the world did not have a retailer worldwide.<\/span>\u201d Although \u201c<\/span>Italians still export less food than France, Germany or even<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Belgium.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n


The President and Founder of Eataly then explained what the values for the creation of a successful business are: \u201c<\/span>First of all, it is important to create employment<\/strong>;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>second, giving a new life to forgotten places<\/strong>: as happens with FICO in Bologna or with Eataly in Turin, born from the factories of the ancient Carpano company<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(producers of Punt e Mes)<\/span>. <\/span>The third value is bearing in mind that Food & Wine are cool!<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To future managers and people who want to fulfill their objectives and that are mainly driven by passion, the founder of Eataly suggested to \u201c<\/span>focus on Italian food<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>identity in the world, creating employment.<\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
