This is the framework of the hackathon carried out by students of the <\/span><b>Master in HR &amp; Organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> together with <\/span><b>Gruppo Montenegro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an experience that fully reflects the approach of generative education, where learning and application seamlessly integrate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the session, participants worked in teams to design an operational toolkit for hiring managers: a tool created to clearly and effectively guide the key phases of the recruitment process. An activity that required not only <\/span><b>technical expertise<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but also <\/span><b>synthesis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>vision<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>collaboration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The challenge was introduced by <\/span><b>Giada Marasco<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Antonio De Pascali<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Nino Zhvani<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, professionals from <\/span><b>Gruppo Montenegro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who provided students with direct insight into current business needs in talent acquisition and development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>From theory to practice: designing to decide better<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the core of the hackathon was the development of concrete solutions, focused on three key areas: identifying core competencies, applying the <\/span><b>STAR method<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to structure interviews, and building <\/span><b>scorecards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for objective and comparable evaluations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTaking part in the hackathon with <\/span><b>Gruppo Montenegro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was an immersive experience that pushed us to think concretely as HR professionals, going beyond academic theory,\u201d says <\/span><b>Lavinia Fanelli<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, participant in the Master. \u201cIt\u2019s a format that doesn\u2019t allow you to stay in theory, but requires you to turn intuition into action almost in real time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the projects developed, the concept of the \u201cBarrel of Competences\u201d stands out: a metaphor that views each candidate as a unique combination of skills, weighted according to the role. An approach that makes the <\/span><b>decision-making process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> more visible and structured, enabling more informed evaluations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Under pressure: choosing, simplifying, collaborating<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the defining elements of the experience was the limited time, which required teams to make quick decisions and defend them consistently. \u201cThe biggest challenge was finding the right balance between <\/span><b>simplicity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>rigor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d Fanelli continues. \u201cBuilding something intuitive yet aligned with the values and culture of a structured company requires a sensitivity that cannot be learned from books alone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this context, teamwork played a central role. The hackathon proved to be an exercise in <\/span><b>collective intelligence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where listening, integrating different perspectives, and synthesis directly impacted the quality of the final outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A new awareness of the HR role<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond technical tools, the experience helped develop a broader and more strategic view of the HR function. \u201cI leave this experience with something that goes beyond technical skills: a clearer understanding of what it means to work in HR strategically,\u201d Fanelli concludes. \u201cThe design work behind a selection process is often invisible, but that is exactly where the quality of a process is determined.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hackathon represents a concrete example of how the <\/span><b>Master in HR &amp; Organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Bologna Business School integrates academic rigor with practical application, preparing professionals to operate in complex and constantly evolving environments.
