Bologna Business School<\/b> hosted the <\/span>Executive MBA<\/b> delegation from International<\/span> Business Schools as part of the <\/span>EMBA Consortium<\/b>, offering a one-week experience that combined <\/span>on-campus learning<\/b> with visits to companies symbolic of <\/span>Made in Italy<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

An intense and international program, designed to foster dialogue between academia, culture, and business.<\/span><\/p>\n

The days unfolded through classroom sessions, workshops, meetings with <\/span>Alumni<\/b> and managers, as well as <\/span>company visits<\/b> to leading Italian firms such as <\/span>Tetra Pak<\/b>, <\/span>Ducati<\/b>, and <\/span>Italpizza<\/b>. A wide range of experiences that allowed participants to engage directly with the Italian business landscape and the values that underpin it.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

a unique environment for global learning<\/b><\/h3>\n

Yuichi Terada<\/b>, <\/span>KEIO Student <\/b>who took part in the International Week, described <\/span>Bologna Business School<\/b> as <\/span>\u201ca truly inspiring academic environment, rooted in the legacy of the <\/span><\/i>University of Bologna<\/i><\/b>, the oldest university in the world, and enriched by Italy\u2019s Renaissance heritage. The historical elegance of <\/span><\/i>Villa Guastavillani<\/i><\/b>, combined with the modern and dynamic atmosphere of the new campus, creates a unique setting for global learning.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

According to Terada, the week in Bologna represented a concrete example of <\/span>internationalization<\/b>: <\/span>\u201cthe International Week attracts a diverse cohort of professionals from across the globe. This cultural and intellectual diversity \u2014 spanning nationalities, religions, professional backgrounds, and life experiences \u2014 fosters an exchange of ideas and perspectives that is stimulating and enriching.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

the value of corporate partners<\/b><\/h3>\n

A central role was played by the <\/span>corporate partners<\/b>. Terada emphasized how <\/span>\u201cthe exceptional hospitality extended by each company was a testament to the strong, collaborative ties between <\/span><\/i>BBS<\/i><\/b> and its corporate partners.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

What impressed him the most was the openness shown by the <\/span>senior managers<\/b> he met: <\/span>\u201csenior managers demonstrated genuine enthusiasm to engage with us, creating fertile ground for meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange. Moreover, the integration of Italian cultural values \u2014 such as <\/span><\/i>craftsmanship<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>community<\/i><\/b>, and <\/span><\/i>tradition<\/i><\/b> \u2014 into corporate ethos was striking.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The visits therefore offered not only <\/span>business insights<\/b>, but also a deeper perspective on how <\/span>Italian cultural heritage<\/b> shapes organizational identity and decision-making.<\/span><\/p>\n

reflecting on leadership in a complex world<\/b><\/h3>\n

The <\/span>International Week<\/b> was also an opportunity to reflect on <\/span>leadership<\/b> in global and multicultural contexts. Terada explained: <\/span>\u201cthis experience in Italy has profoundly enhanced my <\/span><\/i>Executive MBA<\/i><\/b> journey, expanding my global perspective and deepening my understanding of leadership in a multicultural context. In today\u2019s world, defined by <\/span><\/i>volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity<\/i><\/b>, effective leadership requires <\/span><\/i>vision<\/i><\/b>, <\/span><\/i>empathy<\/i><\/b>, and <\/span><\/i>adaptability<\/i><\/b>.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The chance to engage with peers from different backgrounds strengthened his belief in the need for <\/span>forward-looking leadership<\/b>, capable of transcending national borders and co-creating <\/span>sustainable solutions<\/b>: <\/span>\u201cthe insights, relationships, and shared experiences gained in Italy will continue to inform my leadership approach and contribute meaningfully to my professional growth.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

the most important lesson<\/b><\/h3>\n

The most valuable lesson Terada carries with him concerns the importance of <\/span>international collaboration<\/b> rooted in <\/span>cultural authenticity<\/b>: <\/span>\u201cthe most profound takeaway from my experience at <\/span><\/i>Bologna Business School<\/i><\/b> is the power of global collaboration rooted in cultural authenticity.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

On a personal level, inspiration came from <\/span>Italy\u2019s cultural heritage<\/b> and the <\/span>warmth of its people<\/b>: <\/span>\u201cthe friendships forged, the stories exchanged, and the shared commitment to lifelong learning have reminded me that growth is not just about acquiring knowledge, but about embracing humanity. This experience has reinforced my belief that meaningful leadership begins with genuine connection and a willingness to learn from others.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
