An international dialogue at Bologna Business School on the future of energy. The <\/span>energy transition<\/b> is one of the central challenges of our time. With the global goal of <\/span>decarbonizing<\/b> the economy, the <\/span>energy sector<\/b> is facing a delicate balancing act: integrating <\/span>renewable energy sources<\/b>, meeting growing energy demand, and ensuring the resilience of <\/span>power grids<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span>May 15, 2025<\/b>, <\/span>Bologna Business School<\/b> hosted the event <\/span>\u201cThe Energy Transition: where do we really stand?\u201d<\/b>, a session dedicated to analysing the current state of the energy transition, its critical issues, and the <\/span>technological innovations<\/b> that are reshaping the sector. The event took place in the <\/span>Enzo Ferrari Room<\/b> on the School\u2019s <\/span>New Campus<\/b><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Decarbonization, smart grids, and technological innovation at the heart of the discussion<\/b><\/h3>\n

The session featured international experts from across the energy sector:<\/span><\/p>\n

– Eleonore Lazat<\/b>, Commercial Director, Granular Energy<\/span>
\n<\/span> – <\/span>Crispin Leick<\/b>, Managing Director, EnBW New Ventures<\/span>
\n<\/span> – <\/span>Sanjeet Sanghera<\/b>, Head of Strategic Futures, National Energy System Operator for Great Britain<\/span>
\n<\/span> – Amanda Ahl<\/b>, PhD, Grid Innovation Expert, Extended Faculty member at Bologna Business School<\/span><\/p>\n

Amanda Ahl<\/b> contributed a valuable perspective on the role of <\/span>digitalization<\/b> in the <\/span>energy value chain<\/b>, from <\/span>smart grids<\/b> to the application of technologies such as <\/span>blockchain<\/b> and <\/span>artificial intelligence<\/b> within <\/span>electric utilities<\/b>. Holding a <\/span>PhD in <\/b>Technology Management from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and with extensive international experience, Ahl is also a lecturer in the <\/span>MBA Green Strategy and Sustainable Development<\/b> course at <\/span>BBS<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

An educational and interdisciplinary perspective<\/b><\/h3>\n

Moderated by <\/span>Alessandro Pastore<\/b>, Industry Leader of the <\/span>Sustainability and Innovation<\/b> track <\/span><\/a>of the <\/span>Global MBA<\/b><\/a>, the event welcomed not only BBS program participants, but also students from the <\/span>University of Bologna<\/b> and <\/span>Bayes Business School<\/b> (UK), currently in Bologna for an international exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event provided an opportunity to explore future <\/span>energy strategies<\/b> through an interdisciplinary lens and to reaffirm the role of <\/span>managerial education<\/b> in building <\/span>sustainable models<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n
