Bologna Business School<\/b> hosted the presentation of the 20th edition of the <\/span>Trento Festival of Economics<\/b> at its New Campus. Introducing the event, moderated by <\/span>Dean Max Bergami<\/b>, was <\/span>Fabio Tamburini<\/b>, Director of <\/span>Il Sole 24 Ore<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Radiocor<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Radio 24<\/span><\/i>, in a dialogue rich with insights and reflections, open to students and the School Community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The meeting offered a preview of themes, speakers and key issues of the Festival, taking place in <\/span>Trento from May 22 to 25, 2025<\/b>. The title of the edition \u2013 <\/span>Fatal risks and choices. Europe at a crossroads<\/span><\/i> \u2013 captures a deeply transforming geopolitical and socioeconomic context. \u201cWe chose it in October,\u201d recalled Tamburini, \u201cwhen it wasn\u2019t yet obvious. But today, it feels perfectly on point.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, the Director emphasized the scale and importance of the event: \u201cWe\u2019ll have over 120 panels, more than 600 speakers from all over the world, six Nobel Prize winners and a strong focus on engaging young people \u2013 not just as attendees but also as active contributors.\u201d Among the speakers: <\/span>Dean Bergami<\/b>, who will discuss the timely topic of the <\/span>brain drain (and return)<\/b> of Italian talent.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the heart of the Festival is <\/span>dialectic<\/b>. \u201cDebate between even opposing viewpoints is the engine of change. In a time when the world seems to favor strength over reasoning, we must reclaim the value of intellect,\u201d said Tamburini. A perspective that resonates with the educational mission of Bologna Business School, which fosters an <\/span>interdisciplinary, open and aware<\/b> approach to the major challenges of our time.<\/span><\/p>\n

The discussion touched on <\/span>globalization<\/b>, <\/span>demographic crisis<\/b>, <\/span>technological revolution<\/b>, <\/span>sustainability<\/b> and the <\/span>new world order<\/b>. \u201cWe are living through a phase of formidable acceleration,\u201d noted Bergami. \u201cThis demands that tomorrow\u2019s leaders \u2013 and therefore our students \u2013 develop a dual skillset: managing internal organization and staying sharp in reading external changes, which are increasingly rapid and unpredictable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the key topics of the Festival: the impact of <\/span>artificial intelligence<\/b>, the dynamics of <\/span>new protectionism<\/b>, the <\/span>energy transition<\/b>, the challenges of <\/span>public debt<\/b>, and the role of <\/span>Europe<\/b> in a world marked by tension and uncertainty. The future of <\/span>democracy<\/b>, the rise in <\/span>voter abstention<\/b>, and the return of <\/span>authoritarian tendencies<\/b> will also be explored. \u201cIn times of fear and uncertainty,\u201d Tamburini reminded, \u201cit\u2019s easier to look back nostalgically at autocratic models, forgetting that democracy \u2013 while imperfect \u2013 remains our best guarantee of freedom.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The event at BBS concluded with an open invitation to the entire Community: take part in the Festival of Trento to cultivate awareness, vision and critical thinking. \u201cEurope truly stands at a crossroads,\u201d Tamburini concluded. \u201cBut even in difficult times, if we make the right choices, a new golden age can begin. After the storm, comes the light. We just need to choose the right path.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
