Benton Professor Emeritus of Marketing at the University of Michigan and a leading international figure in the field of consumer behavior.<!--more--><br \/>\nThe event, <strong>organized in collaboration with the Department of Management of the University of Bologna<\/strong>, was part of the <strong>BBS Leadership Workshop<\/strong> series, dedicated to dialogue with prominent global leaders and experts. This session also offered the <strong>Community<\/strong> an original perspective\u2014this time on the role of emotions in strategic decision-making and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Moderated by <strong>Max Bergami<\/strong>, <strong>Dean and CEO of BBS<\/strong>, the event once again created an <strong>interdisciplinary<\/strong> space for exchange between <strong>moral psychology<\/strong>, <strong>organizational behavior<\/strong>, and <strong>management ethics<\/strong>. With a distinguished academic career at prestigious institutions such as <strong>Berkeley<\/strong>, <strong>Stanford<\/strong>, and <strong>MIT<\/strong>, Bagozzi enriched the conversation with a <strong>scientific outlook<\/strong> shaped by over <strong>fifty years of research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In his talk, Bagozzi traced the evolution of <strong>emotion studies<\/strong>, clearly outlining the distinctions among <strong>basic emotions<\/strong>, <strong>self-conscious emotions<\/strong>, and <strong>moral emotions<\/strong>. Drawing on <strong>experimental research<\/strong> and <strong>case studies<\/strong>, he demonstrated how <strong>moral emotions<\/strong> influence not only <strong>individual choices<\/strong> but also <strong>trust in institutions<\/strong>, <strong>corporate social responsibility<\/strong>, and <strong>adherence to collective norms<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the heart of his presentation was the <strong>Model of Goal-directed Behavior<\/strong>, a theory developed by Bagozzi himself that integrates <strong>emotional<\/strong>, <strong>motivational<\/strong>, and <strong>cognitive<\/strong> dimensions in the analysis of <strong>outcome-oriented behaviors<\/strong>. Validated across diverse fields\u2014from <strong>political communication<\/strong> to <strong>advertising strategies<\/strong> and <strong>sustainable behavior<\/strong>\u2014the model now stands as an <strong>effective theoretical tool<\/strong> for understanding the <strong>complexity of human decision-making<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The dialogue with an audience of <strong>students<\/strong>, <strong>faculty<\/strong>, <strong>managers<\/strong>, and <strong>professionals<\/strong> highlighted the value of a management approach where methodological rigor and ethical awareness coexist\u2014emphasizing the role of emotions in shaping one\u2019s professional future.<\/p>\n<p>Bagozzi closed the event by recalling his long-standing connection with <strong>Bologna Business School<\/strong>, which began in <strong>2003<\/strong> when he delivered the institution\u2019s <strong>first commencement speech<\/strong>:\u00a0 <strong>&#8220;<\/strong>I never stopped being a <strong>professor,&#8221;<\/strong> he said, &#8220;because research and teaching are part of my <strong>identity<\/strong>.&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>\u00a0A reflection that perfectly captures the spirit of an event where <strong>academic excellence and practical application in organizational contexts came together.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bologna Business School hosted at the New Campus Richard Bagozzi, Dwight F.
