{"id":65467,"date":"2021-04-22T15:06:57","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T13:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bbs.unibo.it\/?post_type=event&#038;p=65467"},"modified":"2021-04-22T15:06:57","modified_gmt":"2021-04-22T13:06:57","slug":"transition-paths-for-carbon-intensive-regions","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.bbs.unibo.it\/en\/event\/transition-paths-for-carbon-intensive-regions\/","title":{"rendered":"Transition paths for carbon intensive regions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <strong>Tuesday<\/strong>,<strong> April 27<\/strong>, <strong>from 10 am<\/strong>, the virtual event <em><strong>Transition Pathways for Carbon Intensive Regions<\/strong><\/em> will be held with <strong>Matteo Mura<\/strong>, <strong>Director of the Center for Sustainability and Climate Change at BBS<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The event will take place on the website of the European Commission for Regional Policy and Energy, which is organizing a series of events from 26 to 29 April 2021 on the &#8220;Just Transition Platform&#8221;, the platform that aims to help EU countries and regions to unlock the support made available by the mechanism for a just transition.<\/p>\n<p>Discussion topics will include challenges and opportunities for industries undergoing decarbonization and analysis of transition pathways for regions dependent on these industries. The goal of the session is to introduce new evidence on GHG intensity in EU territories and employment in ETS installations. There will be a discussion on the social impacts of the transition to climate neutrality in GHG-intensive regions, such as the need to retrain workers to accompany technological transformations.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting comes at a key historical moment, when member states, in collaboration with a broad stakeholder community, are designing their sustainable transition territorial plans.\u00a0 In this context, the event will enable open dialogue between Member States, local and regional authorities, non-governmental organizations, social partners, and EU institutions, to discuss progress, obstacles, opportunities, and possible ways to ensure a just transition in EU regions heavily dependent on fossil fuels and carbon-intensive
