ASEAN is a dynamic region of 600 million people and a US$2 trillion market, but it is a conundrum of under-exploited opportunities caused by market fragmentation. \u00a0In this MBA Lecture, the professor Poh Kam Wong will provide an overview of the recent development trends of the ASEAN region in terms of technological innovation and entrepreneurship activities, highlight the opportunities and challenges for future growth, and share examples of recent initiatives by Singapore to accelerate technology entrepreneurship in ASEAN.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Association of Southeast Asian Nations\u00a0is a political and economic organization of ten countries located in\u00a0Southeast\u00a0Asia, which was formed on 8 August 1967 by\u00a0Indonesia,\u00a0Malaysia, the\u00a0Philippines,\u00a0Singapore\u00a0and\u00a0Thailand.\u00a0Since then, membership has expanded to include\u00a0Brunei,\u00a0Cambodia,\u00a0Laos,\u00a0Myanmar (Burma)\u00a0and\u00a0Vietnam. Its aims include accelerating\u00a0economic growth,\u00a0social progress,\u00a0sociocultural evolution\u00a0among its members, protection of regional peace and stability, and\u00a0opportunities for member countries to discuss differences peacefully.<\/p>\n
